Addi & Journey | Graduating Senior Equestrian Photography Session near Madison, Wi.

I've had the pleasure of documenting some of Addi's riding from shows & clinics at local barns over the last couple years, and I absolutely loved capturing her senior photos. Images were taken around her family's home property/stable. It was a gorgeous summer evening, and mix of horizon + trees & full sun let me really play with the light in interesting ways during the session.

A super special thank you to Addi & her family for being so well prepared, having put in much thought and effort into ensuring Journey looked amazing as well as having great location ideas for shooting around the property, and of course for allowing me to be at my most creative! Addi, I hope your Senior Year is one for the books, and I just love the fact that while many seniors are graduating and will not continue on in their sports, we Equestrians still have a lifetime to look forward to with our beloved horses. Take care of your ponies, and they'll take care of you <3.

I picked sunflowers from my garden before heading off to the shoot, and I'm glad I did! They made for a beautiful little addition and interest in some of the final photos.

Addi had several outfit options to choose from. At the start of the session, we looked through them and decided which were our top 2-3, based on color palette, style, variety and posing.

Three weeks after the session, we got together over google meet for the image reveal. I had so many favorite photos from this shoot, it was hard to decide which ones to include in the slideshow! I think Addi & her mom oohed and ahhed at every single photo as it came across the screen, and it made me laugh. It's very rewarding when people feel as great about the photos as you do!

What a blast! I know senior year might feel daunting, but what a way to start it off by feeling great about your Senior Photos!! That, in and of itself, is a great gift to give your Senior. Don't overlook the effect investing in your Senior has on them--knowing they've made you proud and feeling all the more confident about the way they're represented in their photos has a huge impact, make no mistake! In the field of Equestrian Photography, most of us know it takes someone knowledgeable about horses to capture them looking their best, so be sure you find your friendly equestrian photographer sooner rather than later!

Thanks for being here,

~Jessica
